We are a small village Church with a big heart. We seek to love God and serve the people of Matfield though our words, work and worship. St Luke's is a grade 2 listed building, built between 1874 and 1876. Situated 5 miles nortth east of Tunbridge Wells on the B2160, the Church is on the outskirts of the village. The church will seat approximately 230 people, has flat access, a hearing loop system and a toilet. The windows are filled with an attractive stained glass, including seven windows by Kempe & Co dating from 1893 to 1923. The glass sculpture hanging in the nave is by local artist Jenny Clarke. The flames signify the holiness of God, with the seed bursting into new spiritual growth. The water symbolises the water of purification and the sculpture is intended to provide stimulation to quiet contemplative prayer. Parish meetings and events are held in Matfield Village Hall, a modern accessible venue with car parking. We have a strong choral tradition with a robed choir which new members are always welcome to join. Choir practice is every Friday evening from 7.30pm. Matfield and Lamberhurst choirs join together for certain joint festivals. It is possible to book the choir for weddings and funerals.
